Hi, Rose here again. I am pleased to inform you that I’m still very much enjoying my time as a social media marketing apprentice at Six & Flow. Everyday I’m excited to go into work and see what my tasks and challenges for the day hold.
Working with a HubSpot partner agency can complement the technical side of the HubSpot software and introduce a hugely-effective inbound marketing campaign that can take your business to the next level of growth. This week I’ve learnt how to schedule blogs on WordPress, so I should be able to post this one all on my own! If anything goes wrong, please forgive me, I’m learning. Also talking of doing things on my own, I’ve been scheduling posts across Twitter, Facebook and even LinkedIn this week. Next week, Instagram.
By allowing me to do this Six & Flow have given me more confidence as they trust me to work independently. Even though it’s only been two weeks, I believe I am becoming more efficient with my time which leads me to getting jobs done quicker. This is down to the freedom Six & Flow allowed me to have when I first joined. I know I said it in my previous blog but I can’t believe the stage that I am at after only two weeks, I thought at this point I would still be making the teas and coffees for everyone. Instead I have two Twitter and Instagram accounts on my phone so I can post whenever I like, which is amazing! N.b. I am yet to make a single round of coffees…
At the end of last week, I was shown how to respond to common objections that we receive on our client Facebook accounts. I’ve been taught that it’s always better to respond to a negative comment rather than ignore it, ignoring a comment is bad social media practice.
Since my role is a social media apprentice within a marketing agency, my daily routine is to check up on websites such as Marketing Week, The Drum and We Are Social Media. This is one of my favourite things to do as I get to read and pick out the interesting articles and post them onto our various social media accounts. Posting about these articles also gives me the opportunity to learn more about marketing as I do my job.
I’m very much enjoying working with Twitter and Facebook, before I started I wasn’t aware you could schedule posts on Facebook or Twitter, so I feel like I’m learning something new everyday.
The two accounts I’ve picked up so far I feel very comfortable with, and by the end of next week, I hope to have picked up another account. Next week, I hope to have finessed my skills on HubSpot as I haven’t used it as much this week because I’ve been mastering Hootsuite and Canva (which I’m a pro at now…).
The thing I enjoyed most last week was drafting up two weeks’ worth of Instagram posts as the other social media guru in the office is off to America for two weeks. I got snap happy with my camera and got lots of great shots I can use for Instagram. Close second to what I enjoyed most was when Krispy Kreme was mentioned in the office, one minute later I was offering to do the run (if you check out our Twitter or Instagram you can see how happy I look with a giant box of doughnuts!).
Working for a marketing agency as a social media apprentice is not what I imagined. I didn’t realise the kind of work or the range of clients that the company would be dealing with. For me it is great experience to see how the rest of the office communicate with clients and the different tone of voices the clients want to portray across their social media channels, which I have just recently got used to.
Due to the range of clients that we deal with here at Six & Flow it is a really great way to learn lots about different industries, that I probably wouldn’t have experienced if I worked in-house.
