Six & Flow Team Culture

Last week was the first time that our team got together in person in nearly two years.

2021 was a challenging year full of ups and downs. Social interactions were limited and speaking for myself, whether I realised it or not, I got too comfortable in front of my computer.

I got used to it - working in my pyjamas, taking breaks to make lunch in my kitchen, and no more rush hour traffic.

It was strange not having anyone to talk to all day long. Sometimes I would go an entire day without speaking to another person face-to-face. It made me realise how much of our communication is done through technology nowadays.

Then, comes Six & Flow’s March week 2022. 35 team members from around the world met in person for the first time.

And, let me tell you. It was amazing.

We all work for the same company, but many of us had never met in person. And it makes you realise, this is what work should be like.

March week 2022

From March 21st to 25th, a room full of Brits, Canadian and South Africans joined forces to collaborate, think creatively, and get to know each other. As a team.

The awkwardness I feared from my limited social interactions immediately dissipated as we started the week with a dance-off.

Yes, I did say a dance-off.

Now, I know what you are thinking - this doesn’t sound like work. And while it may not be, it made our team stronger, closer, and more creative.

We weren’t afraid to get silly. To let loose. To show everybody who we are when the computer screens are down.

The day progressed and we began to get more technical. But don’t get me wrong, the laughs still continued. Six & Flow team members delivered workshops on the importance of delegation to deliver high-quality work, they shared excel and paid media masterclasses, and collaborated on how we can continue offering a work culture that we all want to be a part of.

The last session of the day was a Dragon’s Den workshop - Six & Flow style. This was an opportunity to put on our creative thinking hats. To show team members, who we don’t always work closely with, how each of us thinks.

Progressing throughout the week, more workshops took place, allowing team members to step into other roles' shoes. Customer success managers became growth marketers, coming up with creative ideas for Instagram reels and putting these videos together under tight timelines.

Salespeople learned how to manage client expectations and ensure client satisfaction still remained at an all-time high.

At Six & Flow, we speak highly of our team-first culture. And last week, each of us truly experienced it. It was an opportunity for every single team member to voice their opinion on processes, strategies, and timeline expectations for client work.

A team-first work culture is one in which the needs of the team are always placed above those of the individual. This kind of culture can have a number of benefits, both for employees and for the business as a whole. For employees, a team-first culture fosters a sense of belonging and camaraderie.

This week highlighted our team-first culture by encouraging everyone to share their ideas and expertise. To show support for one another and highlight that we are all working towards the same goal.

We each got to know each other better beyond the laptop. Doing so allowed us to break through barriers, powering improved communication, collaboration and creativity.

Sport Day

Sports day. I think it's fair to say sports day should receive its own section.

Something to know about the team at Six & Flow is that we are a competitive bunch. It starts at the top with Rich, and somehow, it's managed to trickle its way down to everybody at the company. And, let me tell you - sports day was no exception.

Our genius office manager, Heather, managed to communicate with the weatherman and organise a brilliant day filled with sunshine, goofy activities and lots of laughs.

We had been looking forward to sports day all week and it did not disappoint. Our team got to know each other on a new level with long-distance charades, wheelbarrow races, potato sack races and more. While the competition reached new levels, we ended the day with lots of smiles and maybe even some sunburns.

Partner Talks

Throughout the week, we had partners travel from across England and Canada to deliver presentations to the team. Vidyard discussed ways that our sales team can use video more creatively. This logic was applied to multiple roles encouraging everyone from finance, to marketing, to customer service to find new ways to incorporate video into our day-to-day lives.

Had you ever thought about including a video as an out of office note? We hadn’t until last week.

Drift delivered an open Q&A that has lit a path for a stronger partnership between the conversational marketing platform and our growth agency. These are the type of relationships that are formed from in-person conversations and are something we often don’t take full advantage of when behind a computer screen.

Partnerstack shed light on the value of partnerships - something we humbly needed to hear and learn more about. It opened our eyes to new ways that our team and our clients could leverage partnerships to grow better.

And last, but not least, HubSpot arrived and shared a presentation on our history of working together. Over the years, we have come quite far as an agency.

We are just over 6 years old with a team of 35 hard-working, creative, and amazing human beings. Together we continue to deliver exceptional value for our clients from HubSpot implementations to marketing strategy. We are proud of our HubSpot Elite agency and are thrilled to show you what we have in store over the upcoming months.
