I have been an apprentice at the digital marketing agency Six & Flow for seven weeks now. It’s all gone so fast!
In my first week my friends and family were asking me the same questions after the end of every day. How is it? Are you enjoying it? What did you have to do today? Are you getting on with everyone in the office? I remember saying that I can’t wait till I feel more comfortable in the office, and know what I am doing and the jobs I have to get on with.
Here I am, seven weeks down the line, and feel exactly that. Rich has even asked me to stop saying “they” and “them” when writing about Six & Flow and instead say “we” and “us” which was nice to hear.
There are constantly new things to learn about working in a digital marketing agency, and the 9-5 is life is harder to get used to than you think. However, now that I am in the routine of things and I know what I’m doing, I feel a lot more comfortable.

For the past five weeks here at the digital marketing agency, Adam the biddable marketing manager has worked with me and Sophie who is with us once a week as a marketing executive. We go through a different topic each week to learn more about the marketing world.
These meetings are extremely helpful for me, and I’m guessing Sophie too. They give me a broader knowledge about things I know a just small amount about, or in some cases nothing at all!
For example, a few weeks ago Adam taught us about the impact video has on marketing, and how big it’s becoming. Nowadays, more and more people would prefer to watch something rather than read. Adam showed us some videos that he made earlier on in the week, and gave us insight into the website Animoto which he had used to make it.
After every session, he sets us each a task to practice what we learnt, so in this case I created a video on a blog that I wrote. Once I had done this, Adam gave me some feedback will then help me next time I create a video.
Since we all know that Christmas is coming up, last week we got a budget to decorate our little digital marketing agency. This was very exciting, as Christmas is my favourite time of year, and it was pretty much down to me and Hazel to decorate the office as we liked. I think we smashed it, but if you take a look at our Twitter or Instagram you’ll be able to see how we did for yourself. Feedback is welcome (positive comments only though please!)
We also had our work’s Christmas party on Friday. This was an extremely fun night, and it gave me a chance to speak to the rest of the team outside work hours. The itinerary was to finish off any work we had to do in the morning. Then we had an end of year presentation where drank bucks fizz, ate pastries and caught up on what we’ve achieved so far as a digital marketing agency in Manchester.
Then we could relax in the office. Some of the girls were playing cards against humanity, which I have never played before but is on my Christmas list now. Meanwhile, some of the boys were having a few games of Fifa.
Later we walked to Hawksmoor, where the prosecco was in our glasses by the time we got to the table. Wine was flowing throughout the meal, and we then moved on to Manchester House where we had a table booked for cocktails. I don’t think any of you can top that night for a work’s Christmas party!
